Years ago a friend and I were returning from a trip on I80 and ran out of gas.  It was only a short time until a semi stopped and offered assistance.  I hopped in and rode to the next gas station where they filled a 2 gallon can and drove me back to our car.  We put the gas in and drove to their station and filled.  Didn't take more than ½ hour total.  The gauge was off in the car and we weren't paying close attention.
