Just because you did something and it didn't kill you doesn't mean it couldn't have. You might can green beans the wrong way for decades until one time it'll kill you with botulism.
This isn't just my idea. The cdc and Usda both advise against sub tea for the reason I mentioned. Its basically an agar plate for microbes to breed in.
