Southwestern Minnesota | Yes, we did take in the Petrified Forest while we were there too. Our main attraction was the Grand Canyon that summer. My daughter, who was in 6th grade at the time, had a school project that past year where they were to "adopt" a National Park and write a paper about. She was assigned Mesa Verde. I was not familiar with that at all. So, while we went to see the Grand Canyon, we also saw Mesa Verde, the Meteor site and the Petrified Forest/Painted Forest. They all were somewhat "along the way". We also stayed at a hotel at the Four Corners region that was supposedly AAA recommended that had a pool (a necessary amenity for kids) that the heater didn't work and the water was ice cold. The hotel room was full of huge ants. And the "continental breakfast" included a loaf of white bread, a toaster and Sunny Delight. Family vacations are always memorable and some things you never forget! | |
