I like the idea of using the energy to slow down to recharge.
Still have gas powered but I try to think ahead and let my foot off the accelerator and coast to slow down coming to stop signs etc., gentle on accelerator stating up again too.
Not as good as recharging but watching fuel use/efficiency after I have driven for a while I can reduce fuel usage by a couple liters/100kms compared to other drivers.
It takes energy to get up to speed, so why waste it as braking friction slowing down?
Regenerative braking takes most of that energy back, storing it in a battery, and then uses it to extend fuel mileage.
Once I began to get 70 MPG with a hybrid, there was no going back. |
