Subject: RE: FAA medical for drone pesticide application?

If one doesn't need a commercial applicator license (IL Dept of Ag) to apply pesticides to your own farm, why would you need commercial ratings to apply by your own drone on your own crops?

Just asking.

FAA requirements for Part 107 (commercial drone license)

Licenses required for drone application

The FAA is its own beast, and it's a Federal thing. If the rig is in the air spraying/spreading, commercially or privately, then you need part 137. Full stop. Then the exemptions get tacked onto your part 137, like drones weighing over 55lbs, flying at night, no visual observer, etc.
