Can combines get so big and/or expensive that many smaller farmers, who typically buy the used combines, don't want them?   If that is the case, the resale price of used big combines will really take a hit.  Is that one reason we are seeing so many used big ones on dealer lots?

I think for the 1,000 acre or less guys they pay a premium for a Class 5 machine as it fits their farming...help,hauling,handling situation

And ,my thoughts are that the biggest machines were bought to harvest a lot of acres/bushels per hour compared to smaller machines so more wear/tear. Some would say hired help/minimun maintence on those trading often, idk.

Way back when I was little a neighbour did 1,500 acre custom work a yr. with a MF 510 ,another had a Big combine, Deere 7700 and did 2,500 acres......long drawn out harvests but they got done....and seldom was their breakdowns they could not fix at home
