I'm not sure if the engineer who designed those awful hoppers caught his wife sleeping with a farmer or what but yes I cut the screen out as needed to be able to work on that pos. When you put it back together put the bearing flanges on the outside of the hopper. Better yet cut that heap into pieces for scrap and get a single auger hopper.
