Oklahoma | Have roughly 80 acres that we rotate pairs through which is entirely in the floodplain. Typically just stands water but occasionally gets over the highway and moves fast and deep. Found bridge planks 6' high in a tree when we bought the place. Big creek splits this 80 from the other side we have which has a couple hills we can stack hay and such but we keep the cattle out of that big creek. Rotate because we have pecan trees planted in parts of these fields. Not much elevation change across the field.
Have been watering out of a small beaver pond in a small creek when possible and haul some water when it dries up or when we are grazing away from the pond. Have someone coming to look at drilling a well and putting in solar pump. Wanting to water at 3-4 points around the 80. Thinking about putting in one main tire tank but would like to pipe to some other areas. Does the pump and panels need to be above the flood level? Any ideas for a storage tank or should we just put in a temporary tank/nurse tank to store water? Just looking for ideas. Thanks. | |
