It's a requirement of buying farmland now. Either you have side income or side wealth. Land is no longer bought planning for it to pay for its self, but rather to store wealth. No different than a dividend-paying stock. Most folks don't buy stock with borrowed $.


Thats what i have concluded. Been told land has to pay for itself my whole life. Look back at how grandpa bought what we have and see once the first piece was paid for the rest fell into place pretty fast but with lots of hard work which im not affraid of. I feel like the older generation has unintentionally or intentionally set the younger generation up for failure and disappointment unless the wealth is there or a really good job is. Not much in-between.
