I don't know anything about your combine, but the cummins in my gleaner died and didn't start even using either. I thought I had injection pump problems. Local mechanic (sharp guy) told me to go get some John Deere either and try it and call him back. It didn't do anything with stronger either. He said, you got no compression. The temp of the day like around 50, he said it should fire on either. Mechanical problem. He was right, my timing gear on the crank turned and the valves hit the pistons. Mine was overheating too before it finally went. But with yours, loss of 2 gals, that went somewhere. Is oil milkly? Not saying yours is out of time like mine, but bet you got no compression. If it doesn't fire on either after it has been plugged in, you got mechanic problems in my opinion. With it overheating, low on fluid and now not starting, compression test sounds like a great start. With the radiator cap off and you turn over the motor, if you see the fluid in the radiator bubble, its getting compression in the coolant (i.e. cracked heard or head gasket). Good luck.
