Subject: RE: Glasses lens frustration

Pittsburg, Kansas
This last pair I got the good ones. High density lens, photo grey, progressive bifocals.

Then they offered a cheap pair of single vision glasses for really cheap. Same frames but with no progressive lens or photo grey. Think it was 35 or 45 dollars for the second pair (edit: it was 63). I leave them by my computer chair and use them inside. I have a big enough computer screen the single vision works great and I have even driven with them just fine, just can't see the car gauges as good. So I have a second pair.

I also have an older pair that are also identical with same frames with a slightly weaker perscription. They are a few years old. I use them as work glasses when I know I will be outside in extra dirty or grinding mower blades or something like that.

My PPO allows a new pair a year (think it is up to 250 dollars - last time I got at a local place I think they were 400 or so and I had to pay the difference), so I will get another pair next year with the latest prescription and retire the older ones.

Just looked it up. The good glasses were $244 and the second pair was 63.
