Western Oregon | 51 years on Monday. We always head to the beach, usually blizzard over east that time of year and we hate driving very far in snow. Motel room right on the beach at Seaside or Cannon Beach, both very family friendly, lots for kids to do. Now we have a tiny cottage at the beach, south (closer to home) at Rockaway Beach, very small town. Actually on a small lake, good fishing and boating in the summer. We had our little solar powered sailboat there for a few years and lived on it and had our own dock. about 10 years ago we built a deck on the lot, set up elk hunting tent. Dry docked the boat there for the winter and slip it right back in the water come spring. Built the cottage there last spring for summer use, just across Hwy 101 from the ocean. There is a steam train that runs between Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi with special decorated Christmas runs....James
