The lock did not stay latched, they can get full of dirt and sometimes you need to fiddle with them to make sure the lever stays latched up.
This is definitely your issue. We have the slow speed transport on our heads and on our FD70s they had that same swinging handle to lock the float adapter and the little lock that holds that handle in place a lot of times wouldn’t latch properly so the handle would swing down before you even got the head unhooked. Clean up latch mechanism and lube it some. A lot of times when I would swing that handle up I would jiggle with the latch to make sure it caught. The FD1s don’t have that style lock anymore just and arm you flip. Much better deal. Good luck and enjoy the header. Read the book and remember if you do any adjustments it’s like one or two turns at a time and I will make a world of difference. Would be good to have a reputable dealer that knows these heads to walk you through it. That’s the only header I will run now. No more floating cutter bars for me. Too much stuff to wear out. |
