Subject: Carter axles (gooseneck, car trailer, etc.) any experiences?

NW KS/ SC ID

Hey all,
I'm needing a new pair of 7k axles under a gooseneck (old oilfield unit, one bent, other has a chewed on spindle from bearing failure, bad brakes on 3 corners) and it seems Dexter is trying to hold onto COVID pricing as long as they can, can't seem to find a brake axle for much under $600, and that doesn't even come with spring pads welded on.

I have ran across Carter brand axles through Trailer Parts Unlimited in Texas, sounds like they run a little thicker wall tube than most, and claim to be directly interchangeable with Dexter so brakes, springs, etc all swap over. $375 before shipping.

The price difference alone I don't think I can go wrong, but was curious if anyone has any experiences with them before I pull the trigger.
