NEMO
I'd say go wider (24 row) so you can drive slower (4mph) and keep the finger pickup.

The older I get the more I like the simplicity of the old Kinze corn planter. 1 remote to raise/lower. GPS for the markers. When it's in the ground it's gonna plant. Have the meters checked every couple years or so and should be good to go.

With vac, you have one or two vac motors tying up hydraulic lines or using a power beyond. Pressure has to be just right. Have to prime the seed (drive 10 or 20 feet or get out and turn the wheel) every time you unfold and start a new field as you lose vac pressure when folded.

Not sure liquid fertilizer would pay around here. I know the corn can look better earlier but from reading on NAT there is a lot of mixed results. If the planter already has it on it, great. Try it and let me know. I like the idea. Dad said they use to put starter fertilizer on with the planter (100# sacks I think so not liquid) but when they stopped and switched no one ever went back to it.

Sometimes just trying to get the corn planted is struggle enough without having to worry about an extra step at the same time (the liquid fertilizer and timing fill ups with seed refill). Extra stuff turning = more stuff to maintain. Not really trying to discourage you just thinking of things that would need to be addressed.

If you do go vac I'd say stay away from E-sets. My experience is pain in the butt. Little flimsy paperclip thingy and brushes to move going from corn to beans. If something silly breaks JD Josh probably doesn't have it versus stock JD stuff.

By the way, Thanks for the extra belt for Chelsea the chopper!
