Faunsdale, AL | Not familiar with the 8640 rockshaft specifically, but I’m thinking you have a problem with the rock shaft housing instead of the valve.
Unless you are missing some seals that go between the valve and the rock shaft housing. There’s always packings that go in between as you bolt it on.
You have a closed center hydraulic system. It’s like the water to your house or farm. Pressure is high all the time and any substantial leak will kill the pressure to everything except steering and brakes. Only reason this should be spared is because of the priority valve in between steering and the rest of the system (rock shaft and SCV’s).
Before you actually fix it, you should figure a safe way to check pressure output from front pump. Have seen other tractors crack SCV housings when the pressure got too high. Maybe in your case the rock shaft valve housing was the weakest link. Though I suppose it could have also cracked the rock shaft housing that has the oil galleries cast into it to supply the SCV’s that bolt to the back of it. A borescope might save a lot of guesswork if you can pinpoint the source of the leaks.
