Aren’t screwworms fairly common in parts of Mexico still? I thought that was why dip vats were still a thing in border areas of the southwest.
Supposedly they were eradicated, are still in the Caribbean and South America , link to a map with supposed year of eradication, females can fly 180 miles according to one site I found.
