Drill a 3/8 hole in the pole. You will find out how hard. How far the tree rings are apart. After that it is judgement, is this solid? Some are real specimens and some are junk. When I have built out of those, just use more than you think. Closer together.


I was wondering more so about how much weight, as in do you treat it like a laminated pole like in a newer building? If the laminated post is say 12x12, and the power pole is solid and is 12 in diameter, can they carry the same load?
