EC IL | You have to factor in many variables, the first of which is how you will attach anything to a round surface.
When my dad and grandpa and teenage older brothers built a 14' tall shed in about 1974 out of power poles, they ran them through a buzz saw to make a flat 4-6" wide surface to attach 2x6's to then attach the skin to. By the time a pole had a flat surface, they were basically a 6x6 post. I think they put them on about 8' centers. Corner posts had to start as the largest poles so you could put a face on 2 adjacent sides.
Even after facing a pole, you will not know the condition of the wood until you run in screws or lag bolts.
Engineer with used poles at your own risk is the message. | |
