It would be interesting if you showed your math to get to that figure.

He and you both may be right and that would be great. In that case the problem would come with the second of third glass of pop and the candy bar that goes along with it (table sugar is half fructose so would add to the load).

The dose makes the poison????? It may be.

I used to drink a two liter bottle of Pepsi a day, plus or minus. Plus the normal amount of table sugar in other food consumption for the day. That was probably too much. I don't any more. I stopped once diagnosed as being diabetic type II about 35-40 years ago.

I do eat some fruit. I allow myself one apple or one pear a day off our trees in season. The rest of the year I get about a half dozen blueberries or a couple strawberries on top of my mostly fat low carb desert almost every day. Berries are the lower sugar content of the sweet fruits.

So I hope Nick is correct in that our body is designed to handle small to modest amounts of fructose without much damage being done. It is when it is consumed in excess that it causes metabolic problems. Or at least that is kind of what I got from his presentation. Kind of makes sense to me.
