Southeast Colorado | That 30 minute video linked over in TPP with the pilot going in depth on the incident had a part where he showed the Garmin instrumentation in the Helo. He talked about how you enter the altitude at take off............and how a simple single digit incorrect entry would have the altimeter at 100' off. He said there was no backup for that entry............and that the control tower also remotely used the reading off that same instrument in the Helo. I realize I'm far from an expert...........but that does seem very suspect. That would explain why the control tower shows them over 100' apart at the point of impact.
Now also, they had given permission for visual flight rules..............and I'm certain they weren't supposed to be anywhere near being only 100' apart. So obviously there were other mistakes made as well. | |
