I'm guessing here, your heifer is more developed to anticipated.

If the calf is lively, don't be surprised if mom is nursed out in the morning. If so prepare a dab more (1 cup) colostrum to learn if the calf is hungry. If he is, feed him more. Give the heifer some feed 3-5# depending on her existing diet. Corn gluten and cracked corn is my stuff. I've also used safer feeds with little starch but very palatable.

Keep the pair close. The calf may need milk on the side. Take the edge off but keep the calf chasing Mom for all she offers. Heifer should come to her milk (maybe 2-3 days) and calf will become full, refusing the bottle.
