Teach84 has a very good grasp on the Biblical teaching you need to focus on. Sadduceess and pahrisees were minded in ideas like stoicism. Jesus clearly shows them many times their errors in the their worldly view's. Over the past decade churches have been split over the relm of homosexualality and stoicism has infiltrated the churches like not seen in a long time. Stoicism and Christianity do not go together. Not sure what you mean by modern men whether that is younger generation or men in general that are not of the faith? If you are like me it is easy to get frustrated with non christians around us that do stupid stuff and cause problems for themselves that if they followed Biblical principles would live much happier lives. I once was told to when dealing with non christians to quit expecting them to act like christians. As I get older this makes more sense. Doesn't releave us of our duty to spread the gospel to them but when they continue to do "non" christian things we shouldn't be a surprise and it is truly God who will bring them along in his timing not ours, he is still using them.
