Pittsburg, Kansas | Pretty easy to prevent.
Simply eat only sparingly foods that raise insulin and don't snack on stuff that raises insulin. Excess insulin in the blood eventually leads to insulin resistance.
Type II diabetes is a disease of too much insulin causing insulin resistance. The result of this insulin resistance is high blood sugar. The medical community treats the symptom, which is the high blood sugar. To reverse or prevent the disease go to the root cause of the problem and eliminate it. Namely insulin resistance causing excessive insulin production causing eventual insulin resistance causing the high blood sugar and diabetic diagnosis.
Fix the insulin resistance and cut way back on the foods that cause it and you get rid of the disease caused by insulin resistance. Then the body can take care of the high blood sugar on its own terms as it should.
Consider the root cause of the problem (insulin resistance caused by excessive blood insulin levels) instead of just the symptoms (high blood sugar). Take care of the root problem and the symptoms never occour or are reversed. Problem solved.
