1) Corn export sales are running 28% above last year, and shipments 30% ahead. Both indicate the USDA has underestimated the volume of exports.
2) US corn ending stocks could go as low as 1.24 billion bu, instead of the current USDA forecast of 1.54. Last time ending stocks got that low, the price hit $7.35...
3) The major corn exporting countries ending stocks are at 18 year lows in the latest USDA report - hmmm, I have been hearing the world was swimming in corn!!!
4) Latest USDA report assumes massive corn acres and record yields in South America, yet Argentina's corn production will miss estimate because of drought, and Brazil's corn planting pace is near record low with continued persistent rains in the forecast.
It is fine to lock in some prices by selling into strength, but this rally may continue for several more months...
