NEMO
Many of the acres that are in CRP in northeast Missouri are results of ground that was dozed off and farmed in the roaring 70s. It is hel ground and should never have been rowcropped. Most soils in this region are slow water infiltration rates and erodes terribly leaving ditches, gullies, and silted in creeks and ditches. Along comes CRP and it bails out the people who made the very poor decisions of farming these goat hills. After several years of the original owner receiving crp payments, the ground is sold to a city hunter who continued with the program and let the taxpayers of this country buy the land for them. CRP has its place, but it has been farmed so to speak and once again a government program turns out to be a big cluster with taxpayers footing the bill.
