| I retired from farming going on 8 years ago. So I think I have maybe a little different perspective on it then a active farmer. I still own my land and still involved in the operation on a limited basis although i have no skin the game as far as day to day operations. I chase after parts and sort of know what machinery and operation expenses are from a interested observant. It appears to me since the covid prop up money that the more money they give out that the more money we're spending. It looks like everything is just driving a new truck free wheeling down the hill with the brakes smoking. It's a nice truck and sure fun to drive but where we going stop. More money giving out, more expenses, higher cattle, higher expense, . Just goes on and on. Maybe this is the way its always been but the amount of 000's on the end of checks just keep adding up. We all complain about the welfare recipient's waiting for their check at the end of the month so they can go again only to be waiting for the next one. Are farmers any different if they're waiting on that next check so they can make that next tractor payment about the same? Shouldn't they being buying they're groceries from the money they make working rather than relying on the government? Shouldn't us farmers being making our payments with farm sales rather than hoping for a government payment. And don't think I'm critiquing farmers. I consider myself one and i have had my share of farm payments. If we all can't be self supporting that nice trucks gonna run outa road one of these days.
