As a Canadian if I was the USA I would try and extract as much of the relatively cheap and easy oil as I could from the rest of the world knowing I had fairly easy access to the 3rd largest oil reserves on my northern border that are essentially landlocked. If Canada got it’s act together and said “hey, we’re going to build pipelines to seaports” I as the USA would immediately announce building Keystone XL and sink the Canadian pipelines….we’re staring at the checkers and the powers that be are thinking about their next chess move….


We already have a pipeline to the west coast which cost Canadian tax payers 50 billion $ CAD. It was competed last year and can carry almost 900k barrels per day.
