You will see some expansion eventually. But every time we go through this cycle the US cow herd never builds back to even close what numbers were the previous cycle. I'm surrounded by land that once had cows but never will again for various reasons. Recreation is one, but the cost and labor of repairing fence is another.
There are a few things that make cattle a long-term winning prospect, and there is a very good chance that the glory days of straight row crops are behind us. Don't get in to cattle because you'll make a quick buck in the next 2 years, get in to cattle because they'll be a money maker for the next 50-100 years. |
