Black Hawk County, IA | August of 2015 I couldn’t stand the pain, went in 2 days later, they removed 12 inches of lower colon, and gave me an ostomy bag. Mentally crushed me, never had any issues prior to this. The cut thru the abdominal wall was what hurt. Sitting up was hell, as was coughing. I ended up tying a rope to a door hinge to use to pull myself up off the couch. My niece told me for every day you lay around, it will take a week of recovery to get back to normal. That was spot on for me. That 3 weeks took several months to get back, and couple more of strength and endurance training to get back what I lost. I had great hospital staff, and in home nursing, but don’t want to go thru it again. Good luck !
