Thanks for all the help, I plan on running them by themselves and not with older cows. It sounds like I need to pay close attention when buying them, better yet have some understanding of how they were handled up until now. I hope to do a 60 day breeding window to hopefully get as many bred as possible and then maybe have the vet ultrasound and attempt to at least group them into 2 30 day windows best they can.


You know - - - if you're buying in and its a separate pasture use a 45 day breeding and preg check as early as posslb eand anything that isn't bred either
pound them up yourself or send them out to get someone else to do it.
You might lose a couple dollars on the heifers but you won't lose as much in subsequent years.
Fertility is highly heritable so make them show that!
