My son made the mistake of telling the full timers his dad was a volunteer. They smoked him and said “ is your dad one of those guys that wears multiple radios and wears the cap and T shirt “. Son said if dad has the T shirt I have never seen him wear it . They said does your dad have red and blue lights on his truck ? He said dad does not . He said the cheif wants them to wear the shirt on scene. He said dad did just wears lower turnout gear .

The reason for the T shirt is because ( you are supposed to
Be there ) .

He said dad has been just fine with turnout gear .

Son asked me “ dad you got the T shirt “ I said nope I don’t .”

Son said dad , just get the T shirt and wear it on scene .

He said dad we have to wear the shirt , why won’t you ?

I told son I have never thrown off scene , who has turnout grear that’s not supposed to be there ?”
