Do we know or just assume AGCO is planning on marketing smaller Deutz tractors? I sort of figure on them bringing the lower priced SAME tractor to their Massey line since Deutz is already here in the USA, but then again they might not be planning on marketing this new tractor line in the USA at all.
As I have said before in this thread, AGCO needs a replacement for the TAFE built units that are more cost effective and basic model for the Rural lifestyle customer than what the 4700 can get down to. This marketing agreement will fill that gap.
At least this is what we can find out today. This release got rushed out from what I also understand, AGCO wasn't planning to release it yet, especially Farm Show week from my understanding, but they had to due to some other circumstances.
As far as the tractors being SDF, they weren't the worst tractors we ever sold. The SAME and Lamborghini based units we sold in the early 90's after the Deutz days were VERY solid mechanically, though we did fight some electrical issues (wiring and lights) after a few years on the earlier models. Later models had better fuse panels and wiring. The engines in those were very dependable and very fuel efficient.
There is VERY, VERY little actual info on this deal yet. Dealers found out about it when the press release came out because of the reason AGCO had to rush it...so, cue AGCO bashing in 3, 2, 1...
