The biggest fallout would be loss of confidence in the US government. Not honoring a contract is much different then eliminating wasteful spending. The increase in borrowing costs to the government would dwarf any savings. If they want to eliminate crp do it buy no reenrollment.

And I would concur with that, honor the contracts, just no renewals or new contracts.

As to the fallout, that is hard to say by region and possibly hundreds of other variables. In my area, a lot would stay in grass as grass is in short supply and by in large the crp is really crap land. The buffers and all that would be cropped in some cases and left in others. I don't have any buffers myself but farm next some and I would leave them mostly but maybe shave them a bit to get a straight border. Not having to weave in and out of every creek wiggle and not having to stop the planter or combine to take care of a blown over tree is very nice. Also, being able to burn that grass is nice to help maintain creep of the creek vegetation.

I really don't know the true extent of eliminating crp, but I guess I am so tired of the current spending of the government that I am willing to let them end all farm subsidies and see what happens. Especially when they are starting to cut out all the other garbage spending.
