I agree on the surface, but:

For me personally, the opposite is true. The Advair and Albuterol that I was prescribed was a little over $600/month when I quit them a couple years ago. Add that to the $200 per month I was budgeting for food. $800/month would buy a lot of premium cuts of beef off the shelf for one person.

And I luckily don't have to buy off the shelf so I actually cut my monthly budget by over 50%.

Looks like $800 in 2021 is equal to $971 today according to the government's CPI calculator. $1K/month would still buy me a load of porterhouses and bacon off the store shelf.

By curing my health problems via better nutrition, it costs me WAY less to live. Not only that, but I live better as well.
