Subject: RE: When The Magnums Were Introduced

Morgan Co. Illinois
Remember going to the first field demonstration of them across the highway from Beatty Implement at Auburn Illinois. While we were waiting our turn to plow a round a guy that had driven one jumped out cussing that " They ruined them! They did away with the bull gears and turned them into a powershift planetary geared blanking John Deere." He had red underwear I believe. Edit to add, cousin had a7140 Mfwd and a 7120 2wd. I always had to run the 7120, hard shifting, mean steering, and hydraulic levers worked hard. The 7140 was just the opposite in every way. Always liked that tractor.
