That’s the laugh of the day. Saying JD copied the Magnum with the 8000 series is like saying CIH copied the JD 40 series with the Magnums. Want to know who copied who? How about the MX series that came out after the 8000 series. Those two lineups have more in common then a Magnum and any JD tractor.


I remember going to a farm show in about 2000 and the Case IH booth was saying the 8000's would never last because the engine is part of the frame. Wonder how that panned out and if any current models of tractors use the engine as a frame? hmmmmm

Once upon a time I was shopping for a ~225hp tractor. I had a MX240 and 8300, to choose between. Hours were close and condition was slightly in favor of the Deere but both were in great shape. What do you think the consensus among AgTalk was? One of those was such a good tractor, that I bought a Deere 8310, 10 months later. Prior to the choice between the MX240 and 8300, I already had a 7140 and 8400. I’ll say this, a good 8400 will spoil a man rotten.
