Mainly for the reasons in this picture I took off of Albert Lea Seeds page. The hullless oats don’t yield well,don’t store as well, and can still have some hulls. In food production “some” hulls is just as bad as fully hulled. There are some brands doing “high protein” oats which come from hull less oats but very niche.

The dehulling and kilning process of milling oats stabilizes the enzymes in the groat extending shelf life from a few weeks to many months. Products from hull less usually need to be refrigerated.

The cost per lbs needed from a consumer is too high to get broad scale adaptation.
