Subject: Black calf out of red baldy/charolais

I have a red angus/horned hereford cross cow that we bred a charolais bull to. The calf looks like a black baldy while my others look like a buckskin with white face. Is the black gene from the red angus? I know a black angus carries a red gene but was under the impression that a red angus does not carry a black gene. Happy to have a calf just trying to make sense of this.
