NB | I have hunted around some..... Have always used an 08 or 06..Always....
Fly in and usually your gun makes it as luggage...but sometimes your checked bag does not...this is where your ammo is located.
Have always found 08 or 06 ammo in a local store... Guys I have been with....not so lucky finding 270 Weatherby .... or even 7mm Rem Mag once... in the west..
30 caliber has more projectile choice than the rest.... There is a reason most competitive long range (1000yds) is done with a .308....accuracy and as Dave pointed out ...barrel life.
This is my short answer..... If you want the long one you will have to come sign up for my Thursday evening reloading class.... I can talk for hours about .308 and 30-06.... | |
