The JD unlock in the Z2 and the 0260PC unlock from Deere are all the unlocks needed. Does the Ag Leader screen display anything when you try to engage? Maybe double check the unlock, I had a JD tech almost put in the unlock for the old SteerCommand cause he was unfamiliar that there was a different one for the Z2.

Some good points but I must disagree with your last sentence. I had the old SteerCommand ECU in my Deere 8310R using Deere's CAN system to steer. I had the needed unlocks that you mention.

When SteerCommand Z2 came out, I traded my SteerCommand in towards a Steer Command Z2. The local Tech brough it out and simply bolted it in. It was not necessary to make any changes to the third party unlock in the tractor.

In other words, I am still using the Deere third party unlock that worked with Steer Command with Steer Command Z2.

I did need to calibrate the new SteerCommand Z2 but found the process to be very straightforward by following the prompts on the screen. It has worked very well for us. We use an Ag Leader GPS 7500 unlocked for TerraStar Pro C and a yearly paid subscription.

As far as the OP's situation, I was very sure that an Ag Leader GPS is necessary to work with SteerCommand Z2. He seems to be borrowing a neighbors Deere GPS for testing. Possibly that is the problem.
