Subject: Re: JD 6700 Sprayers

We run a 6500 sprayer. The 6700 is basically the same sprayer with a little extra hp & I believe the 6700 has a T tank(415 gal) compared to the 6500's oval tank (420 gal) Nice sprayer for smaller operations, we farm about 2,300 acres.

Biggest drawback I see is the rough ride, rear axle is bolted metal to metal. Also, I was surprised as to how noisey the cabs are, looks like a SG cab but is a lot noiser. I seldom run the engine wide open because of the noise. As deerejammer said, you do have to slide the tank rearwards for certain repairs but not many. There is a grease zerk that is only accessable by sliding the tank back but that is an annual zerk.

One thing I like about our 6500 is the small tires, believe the rears are 12.8s. If I am careful when setting the autosteer I can spray 15" rows without getting on the row. Going to 20" corn for '09 and plan on spraying with rows. Bigger tired sprayers around here run across the row in 15" & 20" corn. One thing I would like to do with our sprayer is to find a 80' boom that will fit on it . I think it would workout better with a 40' planter than a 60' does.
