IL | The original intent of PPP was good, pay employees of businesses that were shuttered by the government and keep them off of the unemployment line. The lobbyists ended up writing the bill and the program was doomed when it rolled out. The Farm Lobby is strong and is evidenced by how this program has been amended to fit the US farmer. I didn't apply and I won't apply because I cannot honestly say it has affected my farm operation. I am a grain farmer (with an off-farm job) and the pandemic never affected my ability to plant, cultivate and harvest a crop. I consider myself fortunate and I also can sleep well knowing I didn't take money that I really didn't need. | |
