Ben, this is a whole bunch of noise about nothing.
They keep using us farmers as the “woe is me” crowd about stepped up basis.l I’d bet there is a whole lot more money in stocks that benefit from stepped up basis than there ever is land. I’d say there are plenty of moderate dens that will kill this one.
I’m not actually especially worried about it happening with no way around it, that would require congress to make laws that would negatively effect their personal interests. That’s the advantage of having a bunch of rich swamp creatures for lawmakers, they want to stay rich just as bad as they want to stay in the swamp.
