SE MN | In se mn we generally have decent years when things are too dry. Yield may be off a bit but can do the work much easier and more timely. The only insight into the derecho I have is from watching Cole's youtube channel. They were hit hard. He was showing ears of corn bigger than I have ever seen on a plant and it sounded like most of their corn made mid to low 100s. The video of them picking it looked like a disaster. Where I'm from, a field average of 130 would be an epic disaster that could only be cause by flooding or hail or a wind storm that I've never seen happen. I bet the derecho had a bigger impact than its given credit for but the drought didn't help and the real kicker is that there wasn't any slack because 19 was worse than anybody admits. | |
