sw ontario | If u can find the answer u will never need to work another day.....I'll say its 90% weather/10% hybrid.....we had same seed on 2 different farms, planted 1 day apart and 1 is 0 VOM , other is 11 ppm......
We were able to find home for high vom corn 11-15 right out of the field and kept the 0-6 ppm for feed....ethanol here was at 2.5 or 3 for rejection as ethanol is so cheap and VOM ruins value of ddg's....
2018 was really bad some guys used grain cleaners , others just found parking lot near ethanol plant and waited 2 hrs. and returned hoping for better test....crop ins. paid many to just destroy corn....then spring came and u could truck to lake terminal at Hamilton and get $5.50 cdn. , vom didn't matter...as a feeder (hogs) we can tell same day when corn is high in vom as feed refusal starts | |
