Maybe your question and thoughts are do I want to farm more and leave the town job. I was there once, could of gone from 400 acres to 1600 acres in one year with two landowners my mom knew. I can only say what I did.
I chose to keep the town job and buy land with W2 money over the years, it worked well for me. I also liked the 401K savings plan that was off the farm, anyway we all are different, I can see the full time farmer idea too, often wondered what would have happened if I did the full time farm. I got up to 750 acres that I farmed and worked full time. I owned the land, took some time and some mortgages over time.
I see you went to Lakeland College, my wife and I bought a place on Lake Mattoon 4 years ago, we really like the area.
