| Not to go off on a tangent on this thread but since you mention it, on stepped up basis being eliminated. Our parents are getting older and own some farmland, obviously at much lower values than what values are today. Us siblings get along fine and I don't think there'd be interest in any of us to sell. But if stepped up basis gets eliminated, the tax bill will not be pretty. Just a couple questions, who determines what the value of the ground is? Is there a trust of something a person could put in place now that would help with this? Just starting to look for some advice. TIA | |
