n. Illinois | I have over the years made multiple loans to banker who also part time farm usually on some type of family land holdings. I had one that was a bank president and even he admitted he couldn't make the farming profitable.
Without fail everyone of them could not make the farming part profitable, for some it was their cost structure was way out of wack, For others their marketing program was costly, (I tell my customers never take the bankers advice on marketing). But they had excellent off farm income and in the end we make decisions based upon the overall results (farm and off farm income) | |
