mn | The grid is maxed our already. Not the source of the power, the grid itself. Everyone is going to get home and plug their EV in at once. That is going to cause problems. It doesn't matter how fast you can shove 90kwh into a battery. It still takes just as much power. Only so much power can go through a wire.
The only reason Solar panels are making more economic sense is because they themselves are causing electricity prices to rise. I like the idea of solar panels, but they are still far too expensive. Especially when you consider secondary upgrades that would be required for them to make sense. (Batteries ovens, furnaces, and so on) And the size of array needed to fully power a modern farm with a grain setup would be massive. IMO, every rooftop citywide should have a solar panel on it before they start coming out hundreds of miles from that city and cluttering the landscape for their power needs.
If someone wants to buy an EV, fine. Have at it. But the lower cost of ownership and operating won't last.
Consider this. We go all solar and all electric like the environmentalists want. Another country gets upset with us and detonates an EMP over us. Now what?
